Surveys and feedback
UserTesting - the practical guide.
UserTesting is the long-running standard for getting real users to complete tasks on your site, app or prototype while narrating their experience on video. The platform pairs a global participant network with study templates, AI analysis, transcripts and highlight reels - and now spans usability, concept and brand research.
What UserTesting does
UserTesting is the long-running standard for getting real users to complete tasks on your site, app or prototype while narrating their experience on video. The platform pairs a global participant network with study templates, AI analysis, transcripts and highlight reels - and now spans usability, concept and brand research.
Who it's for
Mid-market and enterprise product, design, marketing and brand teams that need recruited participant insight on demand. Strong fit when you don't have your own panel and time-to-insight matters. Less of a fit for very small teams that can recruit informally for a fraction of the cost.
Pricing, in rough terms
Quote-only. Annual contracts typically start in the low five figures and scale by seats, study volume and participant credits. Recruit fees on top for hard-to-reach audiences. Implementation and CSM included on larger contracts.
When UserTesting is the right fit
Right when you need quick, recruited insight and want a polished platform with AI analysis and clip sharing. Wrong fit when budget is tight - intercept tools (Hotjar, Sprig) or DIY Maze studies cover a lot of the same ground for less.
Watch-outs
Annual minimums can be high relative to actual usage - track studies vs commit. Participant quality varies by audience; vet screeners carefully. AI summaries are improving but always sample raw video for critical findings.
