What "right-sized" actually means on LinkedIn

LinkedIn's auction has soft sweet spots. Below ~20,000 members, frequency caps and inventory limits push CPMs up sharply. Above ~2,000,000, the audience behaves like demographic spray-and-pray and lead quality drops. Most well-performing B2B campaigns sit between 30,000 and 300,000 members.

How to use the estimate

  • Audience under 20k: treat it as ABM. Concentrate spend over a 4-6 week burst, refresh creative often, and pair with sales outreach.
  • 20k-300k: the standard operating range. Run always-on Sponsored Content, Lead Gen Forms and retargeting against it.
  • 300k-2M: good for awareness and broad mid-funnel. For lead gen, layer a Matched Audience or tighten one filter.
  • Over 2M: too broad for LinkedIn's CPM. Cut by function, seniority, company size or a Matched Audience overlay before launch.
