SurveyMonkey - the practical guide.

What SurveyMonkey does

SurveyMonkey (now Momentive) is the original online survey platform and still one of the most widely used. It pairs an enormous question library and benchmarking data with enterprise governance, market research panels (SurveyMonkey Audience) and integrations into the major CRMs, HRIS and BI tools.

Who it's for

Marketing, HR, CX and research teams across SMB through enterprise that want a broad-purpose survey platform with templates, benchmarks and panel access. Particularly strong when you need quick comparable data without designing every question from scratch.

Pricing, in rough terms

Free tier with very limited questions and responses. Team Advantage from around USD 25 per user per month, Team Premier higher, Enterprise quote-only - all annual. Audience panels are pay-per-response and can run from a few dollars to USD 30+ per complete depending on targeting.

When SurveyMonkey is the right fit

Right when you want a mature platform, ready-made templates and panel access in one tool. Wrong fit when brand and completion rate are the priority (Typeform) or when you need true XM depth (Qualtrics).

Watch-outs

Per-user pricing on team plans rises with collaborator count - audit who needs full editing rights. Benchmarks are useful but check methodology against your audience. Audience panel costs can balloon for tight targeting; pilot before scaling.
