Surveys and feedback
Hotjar Surveys - the practical guide.
Hotjar Surveys are the on-site survey and feedback widgets bundled inside Hotjar's heatmaps and recordings product. You can launch targeted polls, exit-intent surveys, NPS and feedback buttons on any page and pair the responses with the underlying session recording - useful for understanding the why behind what you see in the heatmap.
What Hotjar Surveys does
Hotjar Surveys are the on-site survey and feedback widgets bundled inside Hotjar's heatmaps and recordings product. You can launch targeted polls, exit-intent surveys, NPS and feedback buttons on any page and pair the responses with the underlying session recording - useful for understanding the why behind what you see in the heatmap.
Who it's for
Marketing, CRO and product teams already running Hotjar that want quick on-site surveys without buying a separate tool. Strong fit for ecommerce, lead-gen and content sites. Less of a fit when you need standalone email/SMS surveys or research depth.
Pricing, in rough terms
Bundled with Hotjar Observe and Ask plans. Ask Free tier with very limited responses. Ask Plus around USD 32/month, Business around USD 80/month, Scale higher - gated by responses, surveys and integrations. Often bought as part of a bundled Hotjar plan.
When Hotjar Surveys is the right fit
Right when you already have Hotjar and want survey signal alongside heatmaps and recordings. Wrong fit for off-site or in-app SaaS surveys (use Refiner, Sprig) or for serious CX programmes (Delighted, Qualtrics).
Watch-outs
Sampling rules in Hotjar mean not every visitor is targeted - check your settings before assuming representative data. Embedded widgets can affect Core Web Vitals; test critical pages. Survey reporting is light - export for deeper analysis.
