Surveys and feedback
Dovetail - the practical guide.
Dovetail is a customer research repository that turns interviews, surveys, support tickets and notes into a searchable, AI-summarised insight library. It supports transcription, tagging, theme analysis and sharing of findings across product, design, research and marketing teams - the system of record for customer understanding in many product orgs.
What Dovetail does
Dovetail is a customer research repository that turns interviews, surveys, support tickets and notes into a searchable, AI-summarised insight library. It supports transcription, tagging, theme analysis and sharing of findings across product, design, research and marketing teams - the system of record for customer understanding in many product orgs.
Who it's for
Product, design and research teams at growing SaaS and consumer companies that want a single home for qualitative data and AI-assisted synthesis. Less of a fit for survey-first work or as a primary survey collection tool - Dovetail consumes data more than it collects it.
Pricing, in rough terms
Free tier for individuals with limits. Starter, Team and Enterprise plans quote- and seat-based, with AI features tied to higher tiers. Expect mid-four to five figures annually for serious team use.
When Dovetail is the right fit
Right when research output is fragmented across docs, decks and Slack and you want a real repository with AI on top. Wrong fit when you don't yet do enough research to feed a repository - start with surveys and interviews, then layer Dovetail later.
Watch-outs
AI summaries and themes are useful but spot-check before publishing findings. Per-seat pricing scales fast across a curious team; consider viewer-only seats. Adoption fails when researchers and PMs don't actively curate the library - assign an owner.
