Affiliate and partner marketing

Awin - the practical guide.

Awin is one of the largest global affiliate networks, with particular strength in the UK and Europe. It owns ShareASale (US-focused) and runs programmes for thousands of retail, travel, telco and financial services brands. For most UK and EU mid-market merchants, Awin is the default network when starting a serious affiliate programme.

What Awin does

Awin is one of the largest global affiliate networks, with particular strength in the UK and Europe. It owns ShareASale (US-focused) and runs programmes for thousands of retail, travel, telco and financial services brands. For most UK and EU mid-market merchants, Awin is the default network when starting a serious affiliate programme.

Who it's for

Retail, DTC, travel and finance brands wanting access to an established UK/EU publisher base - cashback sites, content publishers, voucher sites and influencer networks. Strong fit for brands selling cross-border in Europe. Less essential for US-only brands (use ShareASale or CJ instead).

Pricing, in rough terms

An access fee (typically a few thousand GBP/EUR), a network override on top of commissions paid to publishers (around 30%), and a performance-based monthly minimum. Awin Access is a lower-cost self-serve tier aimed at smaller merchants, with simpler onboarding and a flat monthly fee.

When Awin is the right fit

Right when you want immediate access to established UK/EU affiliate publishers without recruiting one by one. Strong for brands where cashback and voucher sites are a meaningful channel. Wrong fit when you only want to pay for new customers and avoid voucher-led incrementality questions - in-house SaaS gives you more control.

Watch-outs

Voucher and cashback affiliates can cannibalise existing demand if rules aren't tight - set commission tiers and exclusion rules carefully. Override fees stack on top of publisher commissions; model true CAC. Consider attribution windows, last-click vs assisted, and whether you really need a network or just better tracking.
